FAQ
Can I contact a Survival Scripts provider if I have a question about a medication?
Yes, for questions that could possibly include personal health information, please use the patient portal through our HIPAA-Secure EHR partner, RXNT. However, we do not and cannot provide emergency consultations. In an emergency, call 911 or seek local emergency care.
How will I know how to use the medications?
Every Med Kit comes with online and/or printed educational materials explaining the appropriate use of each medication or supply, risks and benefits of use, and when to avoid use. Furthermore, medications in the Med Kit have been specifically chosen for their low risk of complications and low toxicity, and have a long track record of safety.
Our treatment protocols are based on well-established nursing triage and emergency medical services protocols, with clear instructions in emergency scenarios when no doctor is available.
For add-on medications, the medication instruction kit may not include the necessary information for the one added on. In this case, we will email you instructions that you may save or print for your records.
Am I getting a prescription?
Yes. Similar to other companies that provide telehealth services, Survival Scripts has physicians licensed in your state that writes the prescriptions which are filled by a pharmacist licensed in your state and shipped directly to you.
What is the medical consultation?
You will enter information regarding age, demographics, medication allergies, certain medical histories, and current medications. This will be reviewed by a physician and, if needed, they will contact you via email, chat, or video call to make any needed changes, answer any questions, and finalize your kit before approval. The process may differ from state to state, but you will be made aware of the type of visit required to receive prescription medications in your state. During this process, we require that you provide proof of identity, and that you agree to the terms of service, telehealth policies, and with a statement that you will use the medications for their intended purposes only. Most substitutions can be made free of charge, minus a few exceptions. (Ex: Malarone in place of Doxycycline for Malaria Prevention)
Do you accept HSA cards?
You SHOULD be able to use HSA funds to purchase our kits. Ultimately, it will depend on your insurance and we encourage checking with them before attempting to use your card. Some have very particular requirements, specifically an itemized cost break-down of each medication which we cannot provide.
What if I have an allergy to one of the antibiotics?
We leave it up to the consulting physician to make a substitution if there are allergies. There is almost always a substitution that can be made. If not, we can remove the medication and adjust the end-price accordingly. You MUST notate any allergies on your medical submission form. We cannot make substitutions once the order has been fulfilled.
How long can the antibiotics be stored?
Your prescriptions will typically have an expiration date 12 months after they were filled. For safety purposes, we recommend adhering to the expiration dates and replenishing your supplies every 12 months to ensure you do not take an expired medicine. Some lose efficacy over time, which can be the difference between life and death with something like an Epi-Pen. Some meds can become toxic over time, and it would be unsafe to take them past the expiration date. Either way, the best strategy to to keep an updated supply from Survival Scripts!
Please keep safe from children and pets in a cool, dry room. It is not recommended to store in a cabinet in a bathroom or kitchen. Some medications have a shorter expiration date than others. Be sure to read all information about the medications you are taking in the Medication Instructional Guide included with your kit.
Do you accept insurance?
No. We do not accept health insurance of any kind. This allows us to keep the price of the medications and consultations as low as possible.
