The Importance of Medical Preparedness, Part 1

How can one truly prepare for every possible situation that life can throw at you? The short answer is.. you can’t. The real answer is: You must utilize the resources you have to cover the most real or conceivable threats to you and your family’s safety. And that is what we at Survival Scripts are all about. We aim to spread knowledge and provide products that can serve as a vital component of your overall preparedness plan. We’ve assembled the kits and created the instruction guide through use of evidence-driven clinical decision tools and societal guidelines to give you the most accurate and clinician-approved ways to protect yourself against commonly encountered medical problems. Now, I can already hear some of you..“But couldn’t I just go to my doctor on a case-by-case basis instead?”. 100% YES. When and if you are afforded that luxury, of course. Our team is based in Texas and Louisiana, so we are no strangers to natural disasters, grid failures, outdoor living, and remote hunting or fishing expeditions. It isn’t hard to imagine plenty of scenarios where regular medical care wouldn’t be available. It makes sense to have a baseline level of protection against commonly encountered issues, especially those which can be solved by simply reading and following the instructions in our guide. We must realize that there are some medicines and some conditions that just make sense to let people have more autonomy over. The World Health Organization classifies certain antibiotics and other medicines in the “Access Group” within the group of medications they have deemed to have “Essential Status”. This group includes antibiotics that have a wide range of activity across commonly encountered pathogens, while also having lower resistance potential than other antibiotics. With a decision guide written with evidence-based guidelines (when applicable), anyone can understand when it is or isn’t appropriate to take one of the medications we offer.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has an informational website called “Texas Ready”. It boils down to three main steps: 1. Be informed 2. Make a Plan 3. Build a Kit. See if your state has an equivalent informational site. While maintaining consistency with established guidelines and preparedness strategies, we aim to provide that extra piece of the puzzle you’ve been missing. We give you the meds, the information to help guide your decision to take one of the medications, how to take the medication, and when to seek in-person care immediately, but most importantly we provide the confidence and reassurance that you are covered when you spend time away from home, travel internationally, or need to prepare for the worst.

We invite you to follow us on our journey to providing insightful and educational content, providing access to essential medical resources, and becoming a valuable piece of your overall preparedness plan.
